Hey all….How was your Black Friday??? Did you find any great deals? I only went to Joann’s.. haha.. My Sis in Law asked if I wanted to tag along and I said sure..so at 5:30am off we went. I couldn’t believe how Crazy some women went over that flannel. smile :~) I know it’s a good deal, but some were pushing each other..it was funny & scary to watch all at the same time 😉 I didn’t need any of it, but I did want to get some batting. and it was on the other side of the aisles of flannel..HAHA. I couldn’t resist getting some with it being 50% off and having a 25% off coupon. I bought just over 7 yards the remainder of a smaller bolt…not bad for $21.50. I wish I could have bought more. haha. We were home by 7:30 and with Billy having to work, I had the house to myself…since it was already clean..I got to sew and work on my Indoor Sewing Cave.. :~)
More catch up on the Block Party blocks, was my priority since it’s on my design wall right now. Sew We Quilt is putting on a November Block Party, you can check out the great tutorials over there. I got 3.5 more done today..
I first worked on Cara’s FriendPatch, Cara is from Cara’s Quilts.. Her tutorial was fantastic, instructions were very well explained, I made a small modification for sizing to mine since I am trying to make my blocks 11 inches, when at all possible. Great variations can be made with this block in a quilt..check it out in the tutorial, she showed us with color and directionally. Thanks Cara for a great block, this is going to look great in the Sampler.
Next I went back into the November Block Party Archive..hahaha and grabbed a couple blocks I missed early on. First block was by Jennifer at Ellison Lane Quilts she taught us how to do Improv Piecing. I have to admit I don’t think I have the Improv bug yet. I enjoyed learning a new technique though…and the block was a great way to use up some of my odd sized scraps I have made from all the other blocks. The tutorial was easy to understand and follow. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your ideas with us.
Second from the archives was a block I have ended up making twice, seeing as how the first block I didn’t really read the directions and was assuming I knew what I was doing .. haha…we all have had that moment in time. :} Then when I read the name of the block it hit me like a slap to the back of the head..haha. 🙂
Oh and I did a couple more WhirlyGigs blocks to make that a four square from my Block Party (B.4) post–the 3D version was fun to make. 🙂 Here’s an updated picture of the Design wall for those that are checking in 🙂 Looking pretty good. The other purchases that I found at Joann’s will help finish this quilt off. I found a nice white to add to each of the blocks to square them up to 12.5 and a pretty blue that I am going to use as the backing and sashing on the front. I am excited to see what blocks come along to finish this up…Only 4 days left. Have a great weekend everyone.. 🙂
Till Next Time… :~)
